Response structure

Read the conversational answer in text and markdown together with its cited sources. AI Mode is its own task type and response, separate from the AI Overview box on a regular results page.

• text, markdown: the conversational Google AI Mode answer.
• sources: the cited pages returned with that answer; preserve these alongside the full response.
• taskType: AIMODE with payload.query selects AI Mode. Use GOOGLE in a separate request to measure AI Overviews.

How to collect Google AI Mode answers with the API

Store your dashboard API key in the server environment variable QUERYING_API_KEY, then run this request. The country code selects the collection market; it does not translate the question.

Read the completed response

Replace TASK_ID with task.id from the submission. Poll at intervals while QUEUED or RUNNING; when COMPLETED, read the engine fields inside response. Handle FAILED as an error. Retrieve and store the result within 24 hours of completion, or receive it by webhook.

Each completed task uses 2 credits. Failed tasks are not charged. Check supported regions and plan concurrency.

Limits when interpreting results

Market support and answer availability can change. Optional sources depend on what Google returns. Keep collection errors separate from missing citations and check the public service status when diagnosing gaps.
