ChangelogImproved

Google AI Overviews, now in Markdown

Google AI Overviews
A Google AI Overview as Markdown beside the same overview rendered with its headings and table

Read AI Overviews through aioverview.markdown, with the headings, lists and tables Google lays out.

What changed

  • aioverview.markdown: the AI Overview as Markdown, with its headings, lists, tables and bold text in place.
  • aioverview.text stays exactly as before and carries the same words, so code that reads the plain text keeps working.
  • Google AI Mode answers carry the same Markdown as markdown on every result.

How it works

Google lays out an AI Overview with headings, numbered steps, bullet lists and comparison tables. aioverview.text holds the words, and aioverview.markdown keeps the layout too, so you can render the overview the way searchers see it or read its structure in code. The cited pages stay in aioverview.sources.

Turn it on with include.aioverview.markdown: true. The shared flag include.markdown: true, which other engines already read, turns it on too.

Where it helps

  • Show AI Overviews in your own dashboards and reports with their original formatting.
  • Find which brands Google lists in an overview’s steps, tables and comparisons.
  • Split an overview into its sections to see which topics Google covers first.
