Precise location comes to Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Search

Set payload.location on GOOGLE, AIMODE and GOOGLE_SERP tasks to get the AI Overview, AI Mode answer and search results a user at that place sees.

What changed

• GOOGLE, AIMODE and GOOGLE_SERP tasks take payload.location and return the AI Overview, AI Mode answer and search results Google shows a user at the place you name: a station, a district or a street address.
• location in every located result, the same object ChatGPT and Gemini return: the place applied, its coordinates and the kind of place it matched.
• GEMINI tasks take a location in every country Gemini serves, now including Germany, the United Kingdom and Iran.
• The Location field in the Playground for Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode under Answer engines, and for Google Search under Search engines. It suggests a place in the chosen country, such as 강남역 for KR or 旺角 for HK.

How it works

Google answers for the precise location a phone or browser shares with it, so “flu shot near me” lists clinics around that point. For a located task, querying.ai shares the coordinates of your place the same way before the search runs, and Google answers as it does for a user standing there. The task’s country sets the market and the language of the results, and payload.location sets the point inside it.

In testing, AI Mode named the requested place in all 50 located answers, across eight Korean cities and ten places in the United States, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. AI Overviews reflected the place in all 18 located answers, and Gemini answered for the requested city in every completed answer from Germany and the United Kingdom.

Write the place the way people there write it, up to 200 characters, inside the task’s country. AI Mode, AI Overviews and search results all record it as location, with query, name, latitude, longitude and precision.

Where it helps

• See whether your clinic, restaurant or store appears in the AI Overview and the AI Mode answer for searches made around it.
• Ask the same question from one address on Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Gemini, and compare what each one recommends.
• Track the search results around each branch of a chain, with one query set per address.

Your own ID for the request. Each key creates one task per account, so a retried send stays a single task.

Receive the result

The request returns the task right away with status QUEUED. Poll GET /v1/async/task/{id} until status is COMPLETED or FAILED, or add webhook.url and the finished task arrives at your server with the same task, credits and response. Results stay available for 24 hours after a task finishes.

Errors

LOCATION_UNSUPPORTEDHTTP 422

payload.location works on CHATGPT, GEMINI, GOOGLE, AIMODE and GOOGLE_SERP. Other engines return this code when you submit.

LOCATION_NOT_FOUNDHTTP 422

The place in payload.location is unknown inside country. Add the district or city and send again.

LOCATION_LOOKUP_UNAVAILABLEHTTP 503

Place lookup is briefly unavailable. Send the same request again: places found before return at once.

Pricing

A located task costs the same as any other task on its engine, per completed task: 2 credits for AI Mode and AI Overviews, 1 credit for search results and 1 credit for Gemini.
